Nick Salo was a William H. McRaven National Security Fellow with Bravo Victor Venture Capital, or ‘BV,’ where he learned and advised on Portfolio Operations and School.House — the fund’s invite-only platform experience dedicated to National Security founders. Nick has mapped the ecosystems for the air and sea unmanned commercial and defense sectors and led group projects on AI detection of deep fakes. Nick is a career Army Ranger with 20 years of service, fifteen of which were dedicated to sensitive technical operations supporting the nation’s interests in Special Operations. He has driven tech-focused planning and strategic operations across five Geographic Combatant Commands and is a leading voice in SOF innovation. Nick had led cross-functional teams across the interagency operational environment and spearheaded numerous strategic R&D efforts.
Nick served as a Technical Portfolio Manager and Lead Operational Integrator for Army Special Operations Command (Special Missions Unit) and as a Sergeant Major within SOCOM. Nick’s experience is in managing complex programs, conceptualizing novel technology use, and building successful teams. He executed duties as the senior Department of Defense Special Operations representative in stakeholder engagements across 9 US Joint-Service Special Operations units, 12 US government agencies, 11 foreign military organizations, and 30+ corporate commercial vendor relationships as it pertains to capability programs of responsibility. Nick has spent his career immersed in autonomous surveillance, electronic warfare, advanced analytics, machine learning, and cyber-enabled platforms. His focus is building capability for enterprise integration, identifying technical requirements, and streamlining ecosystem development to support sensitive operations in high risk/high threat environments.
